The sudden death of Professor Glenda MacQueen on March 26, 2020, is an immeasurable loss to her family, her many friends and her many colleagues throughout Canada and internationally. We have known Glenda for more than two decades as a wonderful colleague and exceptionally gifted clinician-scientist. As a long-time Board member for CANMAT, she was a champion for knowledge translation to ensure that the best medical science could be used by psychiatrists and other mental health clinicians for the benefit of people with mood disorders. In addition to her senior academic positions at the University of Calgary where she was, until recently, Vice-Dean of the Cummings School of Medicine, Glenda sat on the most influential governmental and academic mental health committees, and still found time to serve as a lead investigator for CAN-BIND.
But more than her brilliant science, we valued her friendship, kindness, good humour, and wisdom. Glenda enriched all our lives, and we will miss her immensely. On behalf of CANMAT, we send our deepest condolences to her husband Alex and their three wonderful children, Ally, Marcus, and Emily.
